Kate’s Testimonial | Boise Portrait Photographer

Kate was referred to me by her uncle, George Prentice, who writes for Boise Weekly. Via email & a phone call, we were able to set up a photoshoot for a day when she & her two brothers would all be back from college & in Boise. We opted to do some laid back photos of them playing games & joking around before we transitioned into the more posed shots that the knew their mom would love to have. Below is the sweet testimonial Kate wrote for me…

“I contacted Laurie because my brothers and I were interested in having portraits taken as a surprise birthday gift for our mother. We used to have professional pictures taken of the three of us every few years but started revolting from this tradition as we became older. Laurie was the perfect person for the job. She planned and coordinated a very casual and comfortable session at our home that produced beautiful pictures. We were specifically interested in getting candid shots that showed our personalities and our love for each other and Laurie really came through. We could not be more pleased with the results, the photos are authentic, warm and gorgeous. My Mom, as any mother would, literally wept when we gave her a CD of Laurie’s edited prints from that day. A fantastic present and a very gifted photographer. Thank you to Laurie and her marvelous hair and make-up artist, Hildy!” — Kate Storms

Actual Depiction | Boise Band Photographer

I met up with Actual Depiction at the Boise Bomb Shelter (near Simplot Hill). I had no clue that this building existed, nor did I realize that it is a hub for local musicians’ practice spaces. Sometime I’ll have to go venture around inside this building and see if any neat artifacts or details remain in these concrete hide-out. That whole time of US history is fascinating to me..

As for Actual Depiction, they are a reggae band (blended with rock & hip-hop) that’s worth following out on the Boise town. Recently, they won Battle of the Bands!

vineyard photos for my parents ♥ boise photographer

While I was going to art school, my parents built a house. They left bright, white living room wall completely empty and told me that it was waiting for my photos….

….[fast fwd a few years]…

….After much debate, I finally decided to go with photos from the vineyards surrounding their home in Snake River Wine Region. FINALLY, the empty space of their living room wall has been filled.

I do sell my photos (prints or framed) for wall art, so please email if you ever see something in image that interests you!

Photos were taken at Bitner VineyardsSawtooth Winery,

Prints were made at Hi-Tech Color (which is where I do most of my local printing!)

Frames & custom cut mats were from Craft Warehouse

Caruso’s Sandwich Co | Boise Food Photographer

Caruso’s Sandwich Co. is on 8th street (right next to the outdoor elevators). Nick & I ordered a footlong Godfather to split. Lately I’ve been all about avocado & sprouts on sandwiches, so I was super excited that they had both toppings. The Godfather was delicious, but neither of us finished our halves. Be warned, the density of their sandwiches is no joke!
